Walking!

Cora finally decided to start walking!  She's been standing up in one place for several weeks now, but she wouldn't really take any steps from there.  Tonight she and Henry and Railey (a friend of ours) and I were playing in the living room and she got really excited, stood up and started taking steps.  She has been walking all over the house the rest of the night!

Just like we knew it would, it just took her deciding to do it and then she took off...she's been plenty capable of it for a while now.  Good job, Cora Jane!

Camera Smile

Cora has a camera smile now.  These are all pictures I've tried to take over the last month of Henry and Cora doing something cute, but Cora has caught me before I could capture it and given the camera a big smile.  She is so funny -- she loves attention!

Peek-a-boo

These kids love this tent!  They both (but especially Cora) like to crawl in and peek out at each other.  It is usually followed by lots of laughter from both of them.  I love how they play together!

It's A...

GIRL!!!

We are so excited to add another sweet girl to our family!  Henry was the only one who was disappointed, and we are working on convincing him that it will be fun to have another little sister :)

I am 22 weeks in these pictures and when we went for our ultrasound the doctor thought everything looked good.  The only concern was a little fluid in her kidneys, which the doctor said was fairly common and usually goes away on its own.  We will do another ultrasound at 28 weeks to make sure.

This pregnancy was hard in the first trimester -- I was mostly just exhausted, which could be a result of having two young children as much as the pregnancy itself -- but has been really easy into the second trimester.  I don't even feel pregnant a lot of the time (even though I know I look it!) and am just starting to get to the point where I really notice my belly as I'm doing things.  This baby is active, but her movements are much more gentle and smooth than Cora's were.  It makes things more comfortable for me, and I am betting says something about her personality, as well.

No name yet, but we are looking forward to meeting this new member of our family!

I had to share some of the outtakes of our photo shoot of the kids and I.  Also, sorry that Henry is not wearing any pants.  You do what you can :)

Funny Sayings Lately

While I am making oatmeal for breakfast:

Henry:  What I like to do with oatmeal is eat it aaaaall up.  My middle name is oatmeal!

While Travis is reading our Gospel Storybook Bible before bed one night:

Travis:  What happened to Jesus after he died?
Henry:  God raised him from the dead!
Travis:  That's right!  Do you know when he raised him from the dead?
Henry (with no pause for thought at all):  September.

Travis and Henry like to play "monster" after Henry gets out of the bath tub in the evenings.  Henry has several towels with hoods that look like animals so they put them on and pretend to try to eat each other.  During this game last night Henry came out of the bathroom toward me saying in his deep monster voice:

"Roooooar!  I'm hungry!  I prefer a whole Mommy!"

One Year Old!

This post is a month old, but at least I'm finally getting to it!

Cora is one!

She still has such a sweet, fun personality, but she is definitely showing some strong opinions and displeasure at her preferences not being met.  I guess both of our children inherited my strong will :)

Cora smiles and laughs so easily right now.  Watching Henry run/hide/be active probably makes her laugh the most right now, and playing with Daddy probably comes in a close second.  She doesn't like for us to pass her off to someone else in nursery or when we have to go somewhere, but she usually gets over it pretty quickly.

She will give hugs and kisses very willingly when asked for them.  She also has several words that she says consistently and well (Daddy, night night, bye bye, more), several signs that she will do (more, please, thank you) and she is always imitating words and sounds that we make.  She is very vocal and very social!

She isn't walking on her own yet, but she loves to hold our hands and walk or push a toy and walk with it.  She pulls up on furniture as well.  She crawls like a pro but would usually prefer to be carried or given hands to help her walk.

She still takes two naps on most days, but she can do without her morning nap if we are out.  Sometimes even when we are home I give her books to "read" in her bed instead of sleeping.  She still loves her passy for bedtime and naptime.

Cora is a great eater most of the time.  She has been eating what the rest of us eat at mealtimes since she was about 10 months old and we stopped nursing around 11 months.  She especially loves grapes and bread.

She has six teeth.  Her eyes are still bluish, but not as much as they used to be.  I think they are starting to turn more of a brown or green.  She is starting to get curls in the back of her head, but the top is still straight.

Cora is such a joy to us!  We are so grateful that she is a part of our family.  I can't believe this first year has gone by so quickly!  Here are some of our favorite pictures of her over the last year.

Windows

Cora loves the windows in our house!  She loves to look out of them, and she loves to open and close the blinds.  She is pulling up on things now, and it is so cute to see her standing in the window and looking out.

Cow Appreciation Day

Back in July the kids and I dressed as cows for free food at Chick-Fil-A.  Here are some pictures of my cute cows :)

Word Mix-ups

Henry keeps us entertained!  Here are a few more of the words he's replaced with something almost the same...

Henry:  Daddy I want you to build me a palace (pallet) on the floor, too!

(Driving in the car)
Travis:  These are some huge speed bumps!
Henry:  Why are there mosquito bumps in the road?

(We were having edamame in our stir fry at dinner.)
Susanna:  Henry, how do you like your stir fry?
Henry:  I like my mermaid (edamame)!

(We had been singing the song "She'll be coming round the mountain")
Henry (singing):  She'll be driving six feet wide horses when she comes...

H:  Mommy, I put a roller coaster under your drink!

Three

We are so excited to add another little one to our family!  We found out at the beginning of July that I was pregnant with this third baby.  I am now 15 weeks along and beginning to get over the first trimester exhaustion.

This baby will follow close on Cora's heels -- they will be about 18 months apart.  We are looking forward to watching this new little one fit into our family and are so grateful that the Lord has entrusted us with a new life!

Playing Cars

I love seeing these two play together!  And I think that cars, trucks, and trains are becoming Cora's toys of choice.  I'm not sure that she realized there are other options :)

My Kitchen Helper

She's a cute one!  (This is cabbage she's chewing on, by the way.)

School

My friend Kelly has let Henry and I borrow a letter of the week curriculum that we have been going through for several weeks now.  At first Henry was very opposed to the idea of doing "school" (even though the activities are really fun and simple) but he loves it now!  I am really grateful that he changed his mind before we had to turn it into a battle.  We work on it two days a week while Cora is napping in the mornings.  He is becoming familiar with the letters, practicing counting and writing, and learning a Bible verse each week.  We are very pleased and proud of how well he has done with it!

Today

I know I haven't been around on the blog much lately, with our move and everything, but I am working on getting it started back up.  Until I do, here are a few pictures from playing outside this morning :)

Post Nap Reunion

Henry and Cora are always so excited to see each other after nap.  A few days ago Henry wanted Cora to come sit in the chair with him so I got a few pictures.
