Storytime

One of Henry's new favorite things to do is to tell stories.  He loves to have us tell him stories, but he has also been telling stories to us.  These are a few that I wrote down that he told me while he was eating breakfast last week.

Once upon a time there was an acorn with eyes and mouth.  And the big bad wolf came and ate that acorn up!  And I put him in my milk and ate him up.  (Me:  Are you the big bad wolf?)  Yeah, I was a minute ago in the forest.  And I ate that eyes and mouth acorn up and throw him away.  Because he was old.

Once upon a time a bubble came flap flap flapping and singing "Doobie doobie doobie I'm hungry and I want get some breakfast."  And the rest of the bubbles hit that bubble and throw him away.  And the big bad wolf came and ate him up and threw him away.  Into the forest came a BAD DOGGY!  And a milkshake came and hit the big bad wolf and threw him away RIGHT IN THE HEAD.  The big bad wolf was trying to get away and the milkshake stopped him and shoot him right in the head.  That's not nice to shoot someone but the milkshake did since the big bad wolf was bad.

Sorry for the violence there...I think we had just been talking about the story of David and Goliath :)

4 month pictures

These pictures are some that our neighbor and good friend, Mo, took.  I didn't do a great job of getting good pictures of Henry very frequently as a baby, so I am trying to do better this time around.  And I am so grateful to Mo for being so willing to spend time photographing my children!

*Also, the other baby in the picture is Zoe, Mo's little girl and Cora's BFF :)

Snow!

We enjoyed the small amount of snow we had a few weeks ago!  This was Henry's first experience with it and he was very excited.  Travis taught him how to run with his tongue out to catch snowflakes, and yes, we did put grocery bags over his shoes to keep them dry :)

Growing

It is so hard to believe that Cora is already four months old!  (Really 4.5 now.)

At her 4 month check up she weighed almost 15 lbs.  She is so, so smiley!  She also loves to "talk" with us.  Her two favorite things right now are to have someone looking at her and talking to her and to watch Henry running/playing.  She has rolled over from her tummy to her back twice, but that was probably around 3-3.5 months, and she hasn't done it since.  Now she just fusses when she is ready to roll over and waits until someone helps her (I usually have to race Henry to it).  But she loves to lay on her back and roll from side to side.  She also loves to pull her legs straight up in the air and then kick them down really hard.  She has been sleeping 8 hours at night since about 6 weeks old, at 8 weeks she went to 10 hours, and now she sleeps between 11 and 12 hours!  She takes a long nap in the morning and afternoon and sometimes short ones in between if we have to be out and cut her nap time short.  She has such a sweet, content personality and we are so glad that the Lord brought her into our family!

Solid Food!

It is really hard to believe that she is old enough, but we gave Cora her first solid food about a week and a half ago.  She was watching us eat very intently, and her doctor said that she could try cereal if she was showing interest in eating, so we let her.  She was kind of indifferent at first...it took her a day or two to get the hang of it, but she loves it now!  I think she would eat a lot more than we give her :)

Cars

Henry was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't understand what he was saying.

Me:  Cars?  Did you say something about cars?
Henry:  No...oh!  I wasn't talking about cars, but we could watch dizzy (Disney) Cars!

Haha...so funny to see how his mind works!

Siblings

These two love each other so much!  It is so much fun that they can "play" together now.  Henry loves to make Cora laugh and smile and to bring her toys and lay on the floor with her.  Cora loves to watch Henry and he gets more laughs from her than anyone else does!

Marriage

A conversation at the dinner table one night...

Travis:  maybe we can set henry and [a friend of ours] up to get married.
Henry:  NO!
Me:  who do you want to marry?
Henry:  daddy.
Travis:  I'm a boy! You need to marry a girl.
Henry (to me):  are you a girl?
Me:  yes I am.
Henry:  well...I might marry you.
Travis: Well I'm already married to her, you have to pick someone else.
Henry: Well maybe I can have some more taco salad.

Time Out

Time out is apparently a regular enough occurrence that we have several funny conversations with Henry pertaining to it :)

Henry and I were having lunch and I was warning him against a certain behavior.
Me:  Henry, if you continue, you will have to...
Henry (interrupting me):  You go to my room!
Me:  I go to your room?
Henry:  Yes.
Me:  No, I'm not going to go to your room.
Henry:  Well Mommy, that's how time out works.

Me:  Come here, Henry, your sleeve is wet.  Let me dry it off.
Henry:  Yes, it is a booger.  I wipe it on my sleeve when I was sitting in time out.
